We are eight days away from our Annual meeting in Durham, NC, and we hope you will be able to attend.
I am writing today to ask if you have nominations for two Board of Directors positions for the upcoming year. While we have some nominations, we would like to hear from the membership if they have anyone that they would recommend for these positions. If so, please ask them before submitting their name. Before submitting your vote, please read the instructions below carefully.
Who is eligible to make a recommendation?
Any member who has active status with BMDF may make recommendations. Active status means that you have updated your membership within the past twelve months and, if required, paid the appropriate membership dues. If you are unsure, please email Bob, and he can let you know if your status is active.
Eligibility would include all members except Healthcare and Pre-Healthcare Students. These students have complementary status, which does not include voting privileges.
Who can be recommended?
Any member considered active (has registered within the past twelve months with membership dues up to date) is eligible. Please remember that those working overseas (M’s) and those retired from M Service do not pay dues.
What should I do before making a recommendation?
Talk with the person you want to recommend and ensure that they are willing to serve. These positions require a time commitment and are for two years. This also includes the willingness to attend Board meetings (either live or by Zoom). Usually, there is a meeting before the Annual meeting and two board meetings via Zoom during the evening hours.
Please ask them if their membership is up to date. If they are unsure but want to serve, you may submit their name. If it is not, Bob will contact them to see if they would like to “renew” their membership.
Please remind them that if they accept the nomination, there will be a full membership vote during the business session of the Annual meeting next week.
Deadline
I must receive your recommendations no later than Tuesday, April 22, by 6 p.m.
